The aim of the mission is to examine the future viability of the infrastructure in relation to expected standards for a charging and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure and to support its expansion as part of a funding programme.
Four funding components will provide a total of up to €21 million in funding for charging infrastructure and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure facilities and accompanying scientific research during their planning, construction and operational phases. The project outlines submitted were reviewed and the selection process was completed at the end of 2023. The mission constitutes the implementation phase (phase 2) of the SDA joint project ‘Pilot charging and hydrogen refuelling station for trucks in Baden-Württemberg’ (PiLaTes).
Two hydrogen refuelling stations in Weilheim/Teck and Ravensburg are being funded. In addition, a total of 14 fast charging points will be installed at two publicly accessible truck charging locations. The locations will be on the A7 motorway near Gingen an der Brenz and on the B3 near Malsch. Both projects are currently in the planning or implementation phase.
The facilities are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.
