Comprehensive, cross-technology presentation of the challenges and fields of action in the development and expansion of energy infrastructures for commercial vehicles and buses

Preparation of a discussion paper by e-mobil BW

The discussion paper is intended to present the framework conditions for a successful market ramp-up of zero-emission drive technologies for commercial vehicles and buses. The market ramp-up of vehicles will only be successful if all elements of the overall system are harmonised. This consists of regulation, reliable technical functioning of the drive technologies, economic efficiency and the availability of (energy) infrastructures. The challenges involved in setting up and expanding the (energy) infrastructures should be focussed on in particular.

As part of the project, a questionnaire was also drawn up to take a closer look at the challenges and fields of action in the areas of political framework conditions and technical framework conditions. This was sent to stakeholders from the areas of vehicle manufacturers, bus operators, network operators, infrastructure operators, associations and science. The feedback from the stakeholders is incorporated into the discussion paper, as are the lessons learnt from completed missions in the SDA-Energy with a focus on charging infrastructure and (energy) infrastructure for commercial vehicles and buses.

The complete mission paper can be found here (Mission XI, only in German version).
