Kompetenznetz Klima Mobil – nationwide contact and advice centre for local authorities

Climate protection begins locally, in cities, municipalities and districts – where everyone can make a contribution. The Klima Mobil competence network at Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH (NVBW) supports local authorities with individual advice, tried-and-tested solutions and exclusive offers. With its 15 employees, the Klima Mobil competence network is available throughout the state as a contact and advice centre for all questions relating to climate protection in transport.

After all, no one knows more about local transport problems and solutions than the experts in the local authorities themselves. Learning from and with each other is one of the core principles and is ensured by establishing and maintaining a local authority network. Over 160 local authorities in Baden-Württemberg are already members of the local authority network.

The current focus of the advisory service is on climate-friendly transport planning – in particular climate mobility plans and action plans for mobility, climate and noise protection – and the topic of parking space management, covering all aspects of parking space management, the redesign of parking areas and parking space control.

In addition, the Climate Mobility Competence Network is available to local authorities in Baden-Württemberg as a personal point of contact with a statewide contact centre. The contact centre offers initial advice on municipal fields of action, puts you in touch with the appropriate contact persons and provides relevant information and implementation support.

The Climate Mobility Competence Network at Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH builds on the experience gained from the federally funded model project (duration: September 2019 to August 2022). In September 2022, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport decided to continue the successful work of the Klima Mobil competence network and to strategically realign it. In doing so, it can build on the experience, instruments and networking work gained during the project phase. After the project phase has ended, funding will come from state funds, as decided by the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.
