At the InnovationCampus Mobility of the Future (ICM), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the University of Stuttgart are combining their expertise in mobility, production and digitalisation. Their common goal is to research and implement completely new, innovative solutions for the emission-free mobility of the future and to think ahead about flexible, resilient value creation networks. The focus of the work is on interdisciplinary, application-oriented basic research.
The ICM offers new formats for science, industry and the public. In addition to promoting application-oriented basic research in collaborative projects, the ICM has developed formats for joint campus development, such as future laboratories and transfer instruments. New professorships, junior research groups, mobile research laboratories and the ICM Incubator Programme for early-phase innovation projects have been set up to promote young scientists. The international exchange programme ‘Future Mobility Grants’ and international networking projects are laying the foundations for cross-border cooperation. As part of the transfer initiative ‘Innovation Challenge Sustainable Mobility and Production’, 18 research partnerships between universities and companies have now been funded, along with a further seven consortia with ‘industry networking projects’.
