For a sustainable development of hydrogen-based truck traffic, close coordination of the timing and content of filling station construction, H2 supply and vehicle provision is essential. The current high vehicle prices prevent direct purchase by hauliers, which is why pay-per-use and other rental models are used. This mission therefore identifies suitable rental models and describes a possible demonstration fleet in the Ulm region.
As a hydrogen model region, the Ulm region is well suited for this, as the necessary infrastructure (H2 filling stations, electrolysers), high added value (truck and bus production) as well as after-sales and workshops are available or under construction.
Current rental companies and their rental models for H2 trucks were identified during the reporting period. Lessors are new companies founded for this business purpose, existing rental companies or individual vehicle manufacturers.
