Along with the technical hurdles of the transformation process toward electromobility, automotive manufacturers and suppliers are facing major personnel challenges. According to current analyses, 37 to 53 percent of the workforce will be directly affected by the transformation process by 2030. Ten out of the total of 220 trades that were analyzed show high requirements for further training. In order to meet the industry's demand for highly qualified specialists despite new requirements, the current training concepts must be advanced through integrating subject-specific content and holistically aligned to the needs of new occupational profiles.
In the course of the project at the wbk Institute of Production Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, deficits in current training concepts were identified through systematic analyses of curricula and a survey among the teaching staff, plus a qualification program for future specialists was developed. To ensure high didactic quality, pedagogical methods were specifically integrated into the teaching process. Since Q4/2021, the newly designed Training Factory Stator Production at the Karlsruhe Research Factory has provided a comprehensive range of basic and advanced training courses for apprentices, skilled workers, and engineers that are designed to support small and medium-sized companies particularly in the transformation process. Company-specific training courses are now available on request.
